Radon in groundwater affects drinking water in many parts of North Carolina and is a significant health hazard to those exposed. Professionals with the knowledge and skills to test for and mitigate waterborne radon are needed throughout the state. This Radon in Water course provides the learner with the knowledge and skills required to test for radon in water, evaluate its risk, and choose a mitigation system for waterborne radon. The course includes testing and equipment demonstrations.
Part I covers the sources of radon in water, current guidelines, sampling techniques and educating the public.
Part II covers factors that govern system design and installation.
